Walton police chase ends in arrest after red-light crash

A 41-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested following a police chase in Walton that ended when his car crashed into a parked vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the driver on Church Road at around 12.05am on Friday, August 28, due to the manner of his driving.

Dangerous driving and crash

The driver failed to stop for patrols and continued in a dangerous manner, including speeding, going through red lights and driving the wrong way along one-way streets. The car eventually came to a stop after colliding with a parked car at the junction of Well Brow Road and Willaston Road.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence, dangerous driving, drink driving, failing to stop, possession of a Class A drug (cocaine) and taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. He remains in police custody.

Pictures seen by the ECHO show a large police presence at the scene at 12.20am, with a firearms and dogs unit present.
