Van 'explodes' into fireball in Cambuslang firebombing as police launch probe

A van "exploded" into a fireball on a housing estate, sparking a police probe into the deliberate attack. Emergency crews rushed to Overton Street in the Halfway area of Cambuslang, near Glasgow, on Sunday evening. An alarm was raised around 7.05pm after firefighters received reports of a private van ablaze.

Emergency response and extinguishing the blaze

One appliance raced to the scene off Hamilton Road and worked to extinguish the fire. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service left the scene around one hour later after making sure the area was safe. There were no injuries or casualties. Police Scotland has since launched a probe into the blaze, which they are treating as wilful, with enquiries ongoing.
