Two women divers die in Loch Fyne rescue operation

A rescue operation at Loch Fyne in Argyll and Bute has ended with the deaths of two women divers. A 26-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday afternoon, and the body of a 24-year-old woman was later recovered from the water.

Emergency response

The alarm was raised at about 3.30pm, prompting a response from coastguard and lifeboat crews. Police Scotland said they had received a "report of concern for two female divers".

A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended and a 26-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Further searches were carried out in the water and the body of a 24-year-old woman was recovered."

Investigation underway

The deaths are being treated as unexplained, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the spokesperson added.
