Two people have been taken to hospital following a shooting in a south London street, prompting a major police response and a local lockdown.

Chaos descended upon a residential close in the Bermondsey area of southeast London on Sunday afternoon after reports of gunfire. Emergency services, including armed police officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, swarmed Oxley Close near the Old Kent Road following the incident.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called at 4.10pm on Sunday, December 21 to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims, a man and a woman, both in their thirties, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Victims Rushed to Hospital
Paramedics provided urgent treatment at the location before transporting the casualties to hospital. The man was treated for a gunshot wound to his shoulder, while the woman received treatment for a wound to her leg.
