A 48-year-old man from Bootle has been arrested after two lock knives were recovered in Liverpool city centre. The arrest followed reports that a man had been seen threatening people with a knife.
Incident on Slater Street
At around 1.50am, workers at City Watch, Liverpool City Council's CCTV scheme, alerted officers that they had seen a man on CCTV on Slater Street and Seel Street. Officers were deployed and the suspect tried to ride away from them on Bold Street before he was forced off his bike by patrols.
Following a search of the man, two lock knives were recovered. He was arrested on suspicion of two offences of possession of a bladed article in a public place and was taken into custody to be interviewed.

Chief Inspector Derek Riley said: “This swift arrest illustrates the value of our work with Citywatch to help keep people living, visiting and working in Liverpool city centre safe.
“Knives have no place on our streets. They can bring devastation to families and fear and harm to our communities.
“Those who carry knives are far more likely to become victims of knife crime themselves, and can ruin not only the lives of their victims but hat of themselves and their own families.
“We take all reports of people carrying and storing such weapons extremely seriously, and will put those responsible before the courts.
