Two injured as car crashes into Tesco in Birkdale

Two people were injured after a car ploughed into Tesco in Birkdale last night (Thursday, August 13). Merseyside Police were called to the Liverpool Road store in Birkdale around 7.45pm with reports a Polestar had smashed through the window of Tesco.

Incident details

The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, remained at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries. Police said two people inside the store suffered minor injuries following the crash.

Damage and response

Damage was caused to the store, which was checked over by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS). The fire services confirmed there was no structural damage caused to the store.
