Gerad Trojanowski, a 44-year-old man described as "wonderful and generous," has died following a multi-vehicle incident on the A40 in Carmarthen. The crash occurred on Tuesday, July 28, at around 9.50pm, when emergency services responded to concerns for a pedestrian's safety.
Incident details
According to police, several vehicles, including a marked police vehicle on patrol, collided with the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The A40 in Carmarthen was closed for almost 24 hours following the incident.
Family tribute
His family paid tribute, saying: "Gerad was a loving husband and father. A wonderful and generous person with a good heart. He will always be in our memories. As a family we ask for privacy during this difficult time."
Police investigation
Dyfed-Powys Police made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC), as is statutorily required in such incidents. The police have also issued a wider appeal for information and asked any witnesses to contact them by calling 101.
