A family has paid tribute to a 15-year-old girl described as having the "biggest smile" and a "contagious laugh" after she died in a crash last week.
Charlie Olivia Slack was a passenger in a Fiat 500 when the vehicle was involved in a collision on Shincliffe Lane in Durham at approximately 5.30pm on Thursday, September 24, reports Chronicle Live.
Despite attempts by bystanders and emergency responders, Charlie was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family's tribute
In a statement, her family said: "Words can't describe how broken we are. 15 years is only a short lifetime in which to fulfil your dreams and conquer the world. Charlie was our beloved daughter, sister, auntie, niece, granddaughter, cousin and friend."
They added: "Your beautiful face is everywhere we turn. We keep hoping you will just pop round the corner with one of your favourite sayings or your contagious laugh, singing and dancing, playing Fortnite, making us laugh with the biggest smile on your face."
Gratitude to responders
The family also expressed thanks to those who tried to save her: "We can never fill the massive void you have left in our lives, but we take so much comfort in the precious memories you have left for us to treasure. We would like to thank everybody who cared for Charlie and for their efforts to save her life."
They concluded: "The actions of the emergency services and members of the public have not gone unnoticed. Charlie will be loved forever."
