Two cyclists who died in a crash with a car near Gravesend in Kent have been named as Steven Anscomb and Natasha Lewis. Both were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on Sole Street in Cobham at 7.47am on Sunday, September 6.
Family tributes
Steven's wife Fiona and daughters Liberty and Imogen described him as an "amazing, kind, hardworking dad, friend, and the most amazing husband". They said: "On Sunday he went out for his last ride before his big bike ride to Amsterdam. But sadly, he never came home."
They added: "He will be so very deeply missed by so many and has been robbed of the special times of life. We love you forever Steve."
Natasha's daughter Hermione said her mother was "one of a kind". She remarked: "No words can describe what an amazing, thoughtful, and strong woman she was. I am truly so grateful to have her as my mum. She was so healthy and exercise was one of her true loves. She had so many more years to experience this life."
Arrests and charges
A third cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Two men and a woman were arrested after the incident.
Aaron Turner, 22, of Hermitage Road, Higham, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, and possession of a class C drug. He was granted bail after appearing at Medway Magistrates' Court on September 9. A 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have also been bailed pending further enquiries.
Appeal for witnesses
Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses who saw the incident, or observed the vehicle or cyclists before the collision, to come forward.
