A family has paid a heartfelt tribute to a 15-year-old girl described as "beloved" with the "biggest smile" after she died in a crash last week.
Charlie Olivia Slack was a passenger in a Fiat 500 when the vehicle was involved in a collision on Shincliffe Lane, near Durham, at approximately 5.30pm on Thursday, September 24, reports Chronicle Live.
Despite the efforts of bystanders and emergency services, Charlie was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family's tribute
In a statement released today, her family said: "Words can't describe how broken we are. 15 years is only a short lifetime in which to fulfil your dreams and conquer the world. Charlie was our beloved daughter, sister, auntie, niece, granddaughter, cousin and friend. Your beautiful face is everywhere we turn."
They added: "We keep hoping you will just pop round the corner with one of your favourite sayings or your contagious laugh, singing and dancing, playing Fortnite, making us laugh with the biggest smile on your face. We can never fill the massive void you have left in our lives, but we take so much comfort in the precious memories you have left for us to treasure."
Thanks to emergency services
The family also expressed gratitude to those who tried to save her: "We would like to thank everybody who cared for Charlie and for their efforts to save her life. The actions of the emergency services and members of the public have not gone unnoticed. Charlie will be loved forever."
