A traveller gang has been filmed chasing a car on a road in Glasgow and ramming their van into the vehicle. The latest clip, shared online on Wednesday, is believed to have been recorded on Knightswood Road in the city and is captioned: "McPhees chasing and ramming McGinleys."
High-speed chase on residential street
The footage is taken from inside a van as a man wildly screams "There you go, there you go, we done it, running boys" as the van chases after a black car. The van clocks up dangerous speeds as it races past rows of houses in the residential area.
As it nears the vehicle, a passenger inside the van can be heard excitedly shouting "hit it again, go on James." The van smashes violently into the back of the car and airbags deploy inside as it comes to a halt. The video ends as the black vehicle veers onto the wrong side of the road, drives through a red traffic light and leaves the area.
Series of incidents between rival families
The Record has reported on a series of incidents in recent weeks involving two tribes from the traveller community - arch enemies the McGinleys and the McPhees. The first video appeared at the start of the month and showed the McGinleys brandishing shovels at the McPhees in a clash outside a newsagents shop in Rutherglen. The McPhee family posted the confrontation on TikTok, in which a member of the crew can be heard hurling abuse at their rivals. Several members of the McGinley faction are seen wielding the shovels as they advance towards the McPhees.
Just days later, an attack was launched at a caravan site in Middlewich. Footage showed a tipper truck reversing at speed into vehicles parked in the driveway of the property and a brick garden wall collapsing. Dozens of masked men wielding weapons then jumped out of a convoy of cars. Shocking scenes showed the men trashing cars and the windows of the home with baseball bats and pick-axes. The truck used to ram the driveway was then set on fire during the chaos.
Charges and further footage
Seven Scottish men have since been charged in connection with the incident. Nathaniel Lowe, 34, from Motherwell, was charged with two counts of criminal damage, assault and possession of an offensive weapon. James Lowe, 29, also from Newmains, was charged with violent disorder, two counts of criminal damage, assault and possession of an offensive weapon. A 17-year-old boy who can't be named for legal reasons was charged with violent disorder, two counts of criminal damage, assault and possession of an offensive weapon. Billy McPhee, 52, also from Larkhall, was charged with violent disorder, two counts of criminal damage, assault and possession of an offensive weapon. A 26-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, was charged with violent disorder, two counts of criminal damage, assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
More footage was circulated around ten days ago showing what was reported to be the McPhee family turning up at a caravan site looking for the McGinleys. The video begins as around 30 men enter the park with their hoods up and faces covered. Glass can then be heard shattering as the men batter down motors around the site with their weapons. The camera zooms in as two of the group hack through the windows of a grey Audi with poles. The clip then pans to a huge hole in the back window of a red Subaru van as a thug is seen battering into the same vehicle's front windscreen with a crowbar. One of the gang can be heard shouting: "Come out, come out!" at one of the homes, while another yells, "Where is he at?" A hooded thug is smashing in the back window of the Audi with a machete as the scene unfolds. Loud thuds continue to be heard as the men begin to walk towards the exit of the site with their weapons swinging by their sides as the video ends.
