Three-year-old Lailah Rosillo drowned at Don Pedro Reservoir in Tuolumne County, California, after playing on a raft during a family camping trip. The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) is appealing for witnesses.
Incident Details
On July 18 at around 3:30 p.m. local time, the TCSO received a call reporting that a three-year-old was missing and may have drowned in Fleming Meadows Lagoon at Don Pedro Reservoir. When officers arrived, bystanders were performing CPR. Despite efforts from bystanders, deputies, firefighters, and medics, Lailah could not be revived and was declared dead at the scene.
Police Appeal
On Tuesday, the TCSO requested help from the public. In a Facebook post, they asked for photos or videos showing the child on a raft or boat with other children, and witnesses who saw the child before she was pulled from the water. Family and Fundraiser
A GoFundMe organized by Yolanda Muro, a close friend of Lailah's grandmother Lisa, described the girl as someone "whose smile brought happiness to everyone around her." The fundraiser said, "What was meant to be a joyful family camping trip became an unimaginable nightmare that no parent, sibling, or grandparent should ever have to endure." Lailah is survived by an older brother, sister, and a baby brother. The fundraiser aims to raise $12,000 for funeral and memorial expenses; about $9,400 had been raised as of Thursday.
