Two cyclists were killed today following a collision with a car in Kent. A man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s were confirmed dead after a white Ford Focus collided with three cyclists near the village of Meopham. Their next of kin has been informed.
Details of the incident
The incident took place at 7.47am on Sunday, 6 September, on Sole Street, near the junction with Round Street. The third rider was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Two men aged 20 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 19-year-old woman was also detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Police appeal for witnesses
The road was closed while an investigation was completed. Officers from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the car or cyclists prior to the collision, to contact them.
