The family of a 15-year-old girl who died in a road collision in Durham last week has paid tribute to her "biggest smile" and "contagious laugh".
Charlie Olivia Slack was a passenger in a Fiat 500 when the vehicle was involved in a crash on Shincliffe Lane at approximately 5.30pm on Thursday, September 24. Despite attempts by bystanders and emergency crews, she was declared dead at the scene, according to Chronicle Live.
Family's moving tribute
In a statement released today, her family said: "Words can't describe how broken we are. 15 years is only a short lifetime in which to fulfil your dreams and conquer the world."
They described Charlie as a "beloved daughter, sister, auntie, niece, granddaughter, cousin and friend" and said her "beautiful face is everywhere we turn".
"We keep hoping you will just pop round the corner with one of your favourite sayings or your contagious laugh, singing and dancing, playing Fortnite, making us laugh with the biggest smile on your face," the statement continued.
Thanks to emergency services
The family also expressed gratitude to those who tried to save her: "We would like to thank everybody who cared for Charlie and for their efforts to save her life. The actions of the emergency services and members of the public have not gone unnoticed. Charlie will be loved forever."
Durham Constabulary released an image of Charlie alongside the tribute.
