Teen Injured in Shooting Near Birmingham Mosque

A 16-year-old boy is in hospital with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds after a shooting near a mosque in Birmingham, according to West Midlands police.

Incident Details

Officers were called to Bowyer Road, near St Saviours Road in the Alum Rock area, shortly before 5.30pm on Wednesday. The teenage victim was found with gunshot wounds and taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Statement

West Midlands police stated: “Although this happened near a mosque, at this stage we do not believe the shooting to be connected to this place of worship.” They added: “We understand this is extremely worrying for people in the area, and local officers will be remaining there to speak to anyone with concerns.”

Investigation and Appeal

Police are urging any witnesses or anyone with information, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the area to come forward. Officers are conducting forensic and CCTV inquiries and speaking to residents in the area.
