A murder investigation is underway after a teenager was fatally stabbed in Northampton on Tuesday evening. The victim died at a property on Adnitt Road in the Abington area, despite life-saving efforts from police, members of the public, and paramedics, Northamptonshire Police confirmed.
Police cordons in place
A police cordon remains in place at the Adnitt Road address and also in Dallington Park as detectives continue their inquiries. Members of the public have been asked to avoid both locations.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Ryan Catling, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team, said: “This is a fast-moving investigation with several scenes in place as we work to establish what has happened.”
Appeal for witnesses
Police are appealing for anyone who was in Adnitt Road or the surrounding area from 6pm on Tuesday to come forward if they saw anything suspicious. In particular, officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen two people acting suspiciously in Dallington Park from 7pm onwards.
DCI Catling added: “We know this incident will cause a lot of concern for the local community and I want to offer reassurance that we are doing all we can to establish what has happened and identify those responsible.”
Community patrols and evidence appeal
Neighbourhood policing teams will be conducting patrols throughout the day, and residents are encouraged to approach officers with any concerns. Police are also urging anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from Adnitt Road or nearby streets to contact them.
“Any small piece of information or footage is useful and could be the vital detail we need as part of our inquiry,” DCI Catling said.
