A teenager has died four days after being involved in a collision in Staffordshire, police have confirmed.
Harriet Boyles, 19, from Stoke-on-Trent, was a passenger in a Ford when it struck a tree on Lichfield Road in Armitage. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1.35am on Saturday, August 22, and Harriet was taken to hospital. She passed away on Wednesday, August 26.
Family tribute
Her family have paid tribute to Harriet, revealing that she helped save several lives through organ donation. They said: "Harriet was a beautiful young woman whose kindness, warmth and caring nature touched everyone who knew her. At just 19 years of age, she had already made a lasting impression on the lives of so many people through her compassion, intelligence, and unwavering love for those closest to her."
"Family meant everything to Harriet. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and brought joy, laughter, and comfort wherever she went. Her caring personality and selfless nature made her a devoted daughter, sister, relative and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her."
Head Girl and organ donation
During her time at high school, Harriet was recognised as Head Girl. She was due to begin an apprenticeship in finance and was excited about the future. Through organ donation, she helped save and transform the lives of others by donating six organs.
Her family added: "Even in her passing, Harriet's generosity and selflessness continued to shine. Through the gift of organ donation, she helped to save and transform the lives of others by donating six organs. This extraordinary act was a true reflection of her character and the person she was, someone who always thought about helping others and making a difference."
Arrest and investigation
A 23-year-old man who was behind the wheel of the Ford has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has been released on bail while Staffordshire Police continue their investigation.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has since been released on bail with conditions whilst our investigation continues. We are keen to speak to anyone with any information or dashcam footage which could help collision investigators."
