Two men have appeared in court charged with the murders of notorious gangland figures Paul Massey and John Kinsella. Steven Boyle, 35, and Mark Fellows, 37, faced Liverpool Crown Court on charges of two counts of murder and one of attempted murder.
Paul Massey, 55, known as 'Mr Big', was shot five times as he got out of a car outside his home in Clifton, Salford, on 26 July 2015. The security boss and businessman was a well-known convicted criminal in the area.
John Kinsella, a gangland enforcer, was shot by a man on a bicycle while walking his dog on 5 May. His partner was also shot as she fled the scene on the St Helens Linkway near the M62 in Merseyside. Kinsella was described as a mob fixer who once stopped a gangster threatening former Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard.
Boyle, of Sandiway, Heywood, Manchester, is next due in court on 7 June. Fellows is expected to enter a plea on 7 September. Five other people arrested last week have been released under investigation.
