A SWAT team and a large number of armed police officers have responded to a domestic incident in Arlington, Texas, just over a mile from AT&T Stadium, where England are set to begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia.
Incident Details
According to the Arlington Police Department, officers were called to a residential address on West Division Street on Monday, June 15, 2026, following reports of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. The scene was described as "pretty serious" by an officer at the location, with a weapon reportedly brandished by the suspect.
Police snipers, an armoured BearCat vehicle, and drones were deployed as a significant number of officers converged on the area. Scores of police vehicles lined the street near the stadium where England will face Croatia in two days.
Police Statement
A spokeswoman for the Arlington Police Department confirmed: "The female resident was barricaded inside the home with additional occupants. A weapon was produced but no injuries were reported. The suspect is now in custody and the investigation is ongoing."
No Link to World Cup
Authorities have stated that there is no indication the incident is connected to the World Cup or poses any threat to the tournament or its venues. The incident remains under investigation.
