Comedian Andy Dick has claimed he was acting in self-defence when he allegedly attacked a former lover with a metal chair, stating his leg was broken in the altercation. The 55-year-old was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles on Saturday following a fight with Lucas Crawford.
Dick's representative told Page Six that Crawford arrived at Dick's apartment in a bad mood, and what began as play fighting escalated. Dick himself said Crawford 'body-slammed' his leg, leading him to throw the chair while trying to escape. He described severe injuries, including a broken femur and shattered ankle.
Dick's fiancée, Elisa Jordana, claimed on her YouTube show that Crawford was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital with injuries, stating, 'He could have killed him.' She alleged Dick becomes 'very aggressive' when drunk and that there were warning signs in the days leading up to the assault.
Dick was released on $50,000 bail, paid by a colleague from an upcoming movie. He has a history of legal troubles, including a 2019 sexual battery conviction and a 2018 domestic violence restraining order filed by his estranged wife.
