Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd has pleaded guilty to assaulting his new girlfriend, including an attack with barbecue tongs.
The 38-year-old pleaded guilty via video link on Tuesday to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage. The assaults occurred in February and June 2025, leading to his recall to prison.
Guilty pleas
Shepherd admitted pinning down and punching the woman in February, striking her in the chest with barbecue tongs in June, and damaging her keys in the same month. Prosecutors dropped two other allegations of controlling or coercive behaviour and intentional suffocation.
Background
Shepherd was originally jailed for 10 years in 2018 for the manslaughter of Charlotte Brown, 24, who died when his speedboat crashed during a first date on the Thames. He skipped his trial and was on the run in Georgia before being extradited to the UK. He was released on licence in January 2024 but recalled in September after accusations of violence.
