A Somalian national in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing at a hotel used to house asylum seekers left a man fighting for his life.
Incident at Stanwell Hotel
Armed officers from Surrey Police were called to Stanwell Hotel in Staines at 6.30pm on Saturday to a report of a stabbing, the force said.
Police said a man in his 30s had been taken to hospital with “life-threatening injuries”.
Arrest and Investigation
A Somalian national in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
Police said they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident, but asked anyone with information to get in touch.

Detective Superintendent Kate Hyder said: “Due to the nature of the report, armed officers were dispatched to the scene and assisted with the arrest.
“There remains a police presence in the area while we carry out initial enquiries.
“We understand this incident has caused concern within the local community, and I encourage you to speak to local officers.”
