Snake Pass Closed After Motorbike Crash, Emergency Services

A major road linking Manchester and Sheffield has been fully closed following a motorbike crash. The A57 Snake Pass is shut in both directions between Hurst Road in Glossop and Ladybower Reservoir this afternoon, June 20.

Emergency services are currently on the scene, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. Officers anticipate the closure will remain in place for an extended period.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson stated: “A section of the A57 Snake Pass is currently closed following a crash involving a motorcycle. The affected area is near the junction with the A6013 turnoff for Bamford. The road is expected to be shut for some time while emergency services deal with the incident. Motorists are advised to please use alternative routes at this time.”

This closure comes shortly after Snake Pass had been temporarily reopened this weekend, following ground investigation works that began on Monday, June 15. The road is scheduled to close again from 9am on Monday, June 22, until Friday, July 3.
