Three people from the same family have died after entering the water in Shoreham, Sussex, on Monday. Chief Superintendent of Sussex Police James Collis said a man, a woman and a teenage girl were confirmed deceased after emergency services responded to reports they were in trouble just before 3pm.
Major rescue operation
A huge rescue operation was launched earlier today, with a helicopter sent to the scene. The incident prompted a large emergency response, but despite efforts, the three individuals could not be saved.
