A 14-year-old schoolboy has been charged after the bikes of two children were robbed in Liverpool city centre. The incident occurred at around 3.30pm on Thursday, July 23, when two boys reportedly approached two other boys, aged 12 and 13, who were on Giant branded bikes near the Liverpool Playhouse theatre on Williamson Square.
Threats and demands
The boys reportedly made threats as they demanded the bikes before taking them and leaving the scene. A 14-year-old from Huyton was arrested and later charged and remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Youth Court on Tuesday, August 4.
Police response
Detective Inspector Lee Egerton said: “Not only do robberies deprive owners of often valuable items, they can be a frightening experience that has a lasting impact on victims.
“We take all reports extremely seriously and will proactively investigate all incidents to keep our communities safe, and bring offenders to justice.”
