A Ryanair flight bound for Ibiza erupted into mayhem after a massive fight broke out between passengers mid-flight. Tensions exploded at 35,000ft during what became a chaotic journey to the popular British holiday destination.
Passenger refused to return to seat
Harry Watson was among numerous holidaymakers who witnessed the punch-up at the rear of the aircraft. The 28-year-old revealed the main troublemaker refused to return to his seat despite the seatbelt sign being on, insisting he needed to use the toilet.
"Everyone started shouting at him," Harry, from Northampton, told NeedToKnow. "As he went back to his seat and people were shouting at him - one guy was being very verbal."
Fight broke out repeatedly
"The lad didn't like it so he got angry and violent towards the guy which caused a fight to break out. This happened multiple times. The lad started attacking the other passengers and had to be restrained a lot. There was then another guy that got up and hit the lad."
The fracas unfolded during a Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Ibiza on 5 October. A female cabin crew member can be spotted in footage desperately attempting to separate the brawling passengers. In the clip she can be heard yelling 'sit down' as the violent altercation erupted in the aisle.
Descent disrupted
The aircraft was preparing to land at this point - according to Harry, the fight disrupted the descent, leaving everyone thoroughly fed up. He said: "Everyone got very annoyed after a while, especially because the plane couldn't land and had to go back in the air again."
"Police arrested and handcuffed the guy when we landed and escorted him off the plane."
A representative for Ryanair said: "Crew on this flight from London Stansted to Ibiza (5 Oct) called ahead for police assistance after a passenger became disruptive onboard."
Police met the aircraft upon landing at Ibiza Airport, and the disruptive passenger was removed. "Ryanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behaviour, ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a respectful and stress-free environment, without unnecessary disruption."
