A passenger on a Ryanair flight from Dublin to Ibiza has described the situation on board as 'overwhelming', with claims of mid-air toilet sex and attempts to organise 'hook-ups'. The unnamed traveller, speaking to Ireland's Newstalk FM, said the ordeal began at the departure gate at Dublin Airport, where she alerted ground staff about groups of passengers who 'appeared to be inebriated', but felt her concerns were dismissed.
Chaos in the air
Once airborne, the situation worsened. Two groups were identified: a younger male group aged around 22 to 24, and a slightly older mixed-gender group. Despite warnings from cabin crew, alcohol was still served to both groups. The passenger recounted a topless man and a young woman disappearing into a bathroom for about ten minutes, after which a male flight attendant inspected the room and returned with cleaning supplies.
She also reported a young girl claiming she could 'organise hook-ups' on the flight, and a young man pointing at her and saying 'I want her', which she described as sexual harassment. Her husband was unaware due to wearing earplugs and headphones.
Police and paramedics at landing
Upon landing at Ibiza Airport, paramedics and police were waiting. Paramedics carried off the shirtless man who had been in the toilet, and two disruptive passengers were questioned by police. The passenger noted an elderly woman's bag was misplaced, causing further distress, and a man hurled abuse at her before a Spanish police officer intervened, shouting 'No trouble in Spain'.
Ryanair's statement
Ryanair issued a statement confirming that two passengers were denied bar service but continued to consume their own pre-purchased alcohol, ignoring crew warnings. The airline said: 'Crew on this flight from Dublin to Ibiza called ahead for police assistance after two passengers became disruptive inflight. Due to their misbehaviour, crew refrained from serving these passengers alcohol from the bar, however, despite several warnings from crew, they continued to drink their own alcohol purchased pre-flight. Police met the aircraft upon landing at Ibiza Airport and these two disruptive passengers were removed.'
Ryanair emphasised its zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct, stating it will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly behaviour.
