A Russian frigate fired warning shots at a yacht in the English Channel, it was reported on Tuesday. Sailors on the military vessel were said to have taken the action after the leisure boat came close to it.
Incident Details
The incident occurred at around 11:40am on Tuesday and involved the Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich in waters between the Isle of Wight and Normandy. The British and French navies were reported to be responding to the maritime clash.
Rising Tensions
This event is the latest sign of rising tensions between the UK and Vladimir Putin's regime. In a separate operation on Sunday, Royal Marine commandos from the British Navy and officers from the National Crime Agency boarded the sanctioned Russian shadow fleet tanker Smyrtos in the Channel.
