Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has said Manchester City's players should not be blamed after reports that the club will be found guilty of 114 Premier League charges.
Robertson's reaction to the news
The Scotland captain was on international duty when he heard the expected announcement that City breached financial rules during the period when Liverpool challenged for the title. He described the news as a shock.
Robertson was at Anfield when Jurgen Klopp's side finished second to City in 2013/14 and were regular challengers to Pep Guardiola's team.
Players won fairly on the pitch
Despite the reported breaches, Robertson insisted that Guardiola's players won fairly on the pitch and said he loved battling against their team.
“I think you can hear the shock in my voice, I haven’t actually seen the news. The case has obviously been going on. For me, the (Man City) players showed they were good enough on the pitch. I don’t know too much about the charges and stuff like that. But they had an incredible team, one that I loved battling against. I don’t think when it comes to these things that players are ever to blame. That’s all I can focus on.”
