Violent clashes broke out between Rangers and Aberdeen supporters on the streets around Hampden Park ahead of their Premier Sports Cup semi-final, with one fan left covered in blood.
The ugly melee between rival sets of supporters unfolded before the 5.30pm kick-off at Scotland's national stadium on Saturday, October 31. Footage capturing the chaos quickly went viral on social media.
Chases and Bloodied Fans
Disturbing video appeared to show a mob of Dons fans chasing Rangers supporters down an alleyway while loudly chanting: "C'mon Aberdeen". Members of the huge group could be seen gesturing provocatively and seemingly inviting their opposition fans to fight.
In another horrific image, a masked Rangers yob was pictured standing over a young man whose face was covered in blood. Further photographs showed a police officer sprinting towards a hooded man lying face down in a pile of leaves.
Police Presence and Match Result
Officers were also seen penning in supporters from the Granite City outside the nearby 100 Acres Bar and Grill on Curtis Avenue. Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
The ugly scenes came ahead of a fiercely contested semi-final showdown at Hampden Park, where Rangers ultimately booked their place in December's Premier Sports Cup final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aberdeen.
Ryan Naderi proved to be the Gers' hero of the hour, timing his run perfectly to meet James Penrice's low cross and fire home the decisive goal just seven minutes from time.
