A man from Prestwich has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Lancashire. Bernard Pinkey, 41, of Mount Pleasant, Prestwich, Manchester, appeared before Preston Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.
Incident in Darwen
Emergency services attended Church Street in Darwen last Sunday (September 20) after reports that a man in his 20s had been stabbed in the early hours of the morning. Officers at the scene provided first aid, and the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance. He remains in a stable condition.
Arrests and charges
On Thursday (September 24), a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. A woman in her 40s was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has since been bailed while police enquiries continue, LancsLive reports.
Pinkey has been charged with attempted murder, assaulting a police officer, possession of a bladed article, and escaping from lawful custody.
Police appeal
A police spokesperson said: "Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone who can assist those enquiries is asked to call 101 quoting log 0220 of 20th September or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
