Dyfed-Powys Police have urged the public to stop sharing speculation about the condition of a man in his 60s who remains in a serious condition in hospital following an alleged assault in Haverfordwest.
The man is in a serious but stable condition after the incident on Quay Street on Friday, October 2. Two men, Mark Hambrook, 41, and John Simon, 37, have each been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
Arrest and bail
A 37-year-old woman who was also arrested in connection with the investigation has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Dyfed-Powys Police warned that inaccurate claims circulating on social media are causing unnecessary distress to the man's family and close friends. The force added that the man is receiving appropriate care in hospital.
Warning over legal proceedings
Police warned that due to legal proceedings being active, false speculation could harm the integrity of an investigation.
A spokesperson from Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We would request that out of respect for the family and close friends of the victim that any incorrect speculation regarding his condition is no longer shared, given the distress and upset that this can cause."
Support for family
Specially trained officers are continuing to closely support the victim's next of kin. The force said it will issue updates accordingly as the investigation progresses, and reiterated the potential harm that incorrect speculation can cause, both to those affected by this incident and to the legal process.
