Northumbria Police have released a description of a motorcyclist they are seeking in connection with a hit and run collision in South Shields that left a four-year-old boy with serious injuries. The incident occurred at 3.20pm on Saturday, June 27, outside the Ocean Beach Pleasure Park.
According to police, a motorcycle collided with a mother and child as they crossed the road near the fairground. The motorcycle, described as a 'petrol-powered motorbike intended for road use' without a registration plate, immediately fled the scene.
Victims and Injuries
The four-year-old boy sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital. The woman, in her 30s, suffered minor injuries. Two other motorcyclists previously referenced in a police appeal have been located and are no longer considered linked to the incident.
The road between Ocean Road and Beach Road was closed for a short time but has since reopened.
Description of Suspect
Officers have now released a description of the rider: a white male of thick build, wearing a sky blue, short-sleeved t-shirt, dark-coloured shorts, black ankle socks, and red trainers. Police are urging the motorcyclist to come forward and are appealing for witnesses.
