Woman's Petty Revenge on Sunbed Thief at All-Inclusive Resort Sparks Debate
Petty Revenge on Sunbed Thief Sparks Debate

A solo traveller at an all-inclusive resort in Turkey has ignited a heated online debate after exacting petty revenge on a fellow guest who commandeered her shared poolside table. The incident, shared on Reddit, has divided opinions on holiday etiquette and entitlement.

What Happened at the Pool

The holidaymaker had been relaxing on the same sunbed all day, using the adjacent small table for her Kindle and drink. She deliberately left space on the table for a neighbour. However, after a quick trip to the bathroom, she returned to find a group had taken the sunbeds next to hers, and one woman had covered the table with her belongings—handbag, three drinks, hair clips, and moisturiser. Her empty glass had been moved to the floor.

Choosing not to confront the woman, the traveller went to lunch. Upon returning, she found even more items on the table. When she shifted her sunbed to follow the sun, the woman's handbag fell, spilling its contents. The traveller politely said, 'Excuse me, your bag,' but the woman ignored her twice. The woman then picked up her belongings herself and placed the bag back on the table.

The Revenge

Later, the woman got up to move to a second sunbed she had reserved in the shade. As soon as the handbag left the table, the traveller instantly put her Kindle and drink back on it. She explained, 'She got up to go to her SECOND sunbed—she'd picked one in the sun and one in the shade—and moved her bag, and I instantly put my stuff back on the table.'

Online Reactions

The post sparked mixed reactions. One commenter said, 'I never go to all-inclusives for many reasons, but the clientele is probably the biggest reason.' Another asked, 'Is it common in Turkey to keep a sunbed for the day and leave multiple times, including to go to lunch, and expect nobody else to use it or its table?' A third user criticised the traveller: 'You purposely didn’t use the whole table, in case someone else came along and wanted to use it too. Someone came along and used it, and you got annoyed?'

The debate highlights ongoing tensions over sunbed and space etiquette at all-inclusive resorts, where guests often reserve spots for hours with minimal presence.
