A 72-year-old man is fighting for his life after a stabbing in Partington, Trafford, on Tuesday evening. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to Heather Walk at around 6:05pm on July 7, 2026, following reports of a knife attack. The victim was rushed to hospital with a stab wound and remains in a critical condition.
Arrests Made in Connection with Attack
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and a man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, a GMP spokesperson confirmed. The arrests were made in connection with the incident, which also saw an air ambulance land in the area. Officers were also spotted on nearby Walnut Road.

In a statement, GMP said: 'Officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Heather Walk in Partington at around 6:05pm last night (Tuesday 7 July 2026). A 72-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a stab wound. A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and a man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Scenes remain in place and enquiries are ongoing. This was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.'
