Michael Wall, 79, has admitted murdering his wife Dorothy Wall, 77, at their home on Hillcrest Avenue in Stockton on Sunday, March 15. He pleaded guilty during a short hearing at Teesside Crown Court in Middlesbrough on Thursday. Wall was remanded into custody and will return to the court on October 5 for sentencing.
Police investigation
Cleveland Police officers were called to the address at around 1am on March 15. They found Mrs Wall dead inside the home and launched a murder investigation. Wall was arrested and charged with the killing.
Residents of the “usually quiet” street said they woke on the morning of March 15 to several police cars guarding a semi-detached home. Police and scene of crime officers remained there for three days and could be seen inside the house and adjoining garage.
Neighbors' accounts
One neighbor, age 63, said: “My partner was taking her son to work on Sunday morning and on her way back she couldn't get back in the road for police. They were there for about three days afterwards guarding the house.”
Another resident told Teesside Live: “Police were doing house to house inquiries - they knocked on our door and we got interviewed about 2am in the morning and asked if they could have our camera.”
