Paris Stabbing: Pregnant Woman Among Three Injured

A pregnant woman is among three people stabbed in a knife attack in Paris. The incident occurred at around 11:30 am local time on Monday in Porte de Clichy, northwest of the French capital.

Victims and Response

The victims, aged 19, 24 and 36, were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital. Two of the victims are reported to be in critical condition, according to BFMTV.

Suspect Detained

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said a suspect was detained by an off-duty police officer who witnessed the assault. "I pay tribute to him, it was a courageous act," the minister told reporters. The suspect, whose age has been reported locally as 31, was arrested at the scene.

Investigation Ongoing

Mr Nunez said the motive for the incident remains unknown and police have not yet been able to verify the suspect's identity because his statements during the arrest were "incoherent." An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
