The parents charged in connection with the death of their one-year-old son have been pictured for the first time.
Adam Johnson, 26, of Hempstead Close, and Kylie Smith, 25, of Holly Bank Street, both in St Helens, have been charged following the death of Maero Johnson.
Incident details
Shortly after midnight on August 23, 2023, police were alerted after the toddler had been rushed to hospital, where medics were unable to save him.
A Home Office post-mortem examination established that Maero died of ketonic hypoglycaemia and severe malnutrition.
Charges and court appearance
The parents have been charged with causing/allowing the death of a child, child neglect, and possession of a controlled class B drug, cannabis.
They are scheduled to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 13.
