One killed, four injured in Tesla crash at LA Trader Joe's

A person has died after a Tesla struck a group of pedestrians in a Trader Joe's car park in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon.

The vehicle collided with a security stand, killing one person and leaving four others requiring hospital treatment, including the driver.

Emergency services were dispatched to the store at Third Street and Fairfax Avenue at approximately 1.20pm on Thursday.

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while four others received treatment from emergency crews. All four have since been taken to hospital.

Driver identified

The driver reportedly lost control of her vehicle, causing her to strike a parked car and a number of pedestrians before crashing into the security stand, according to NBC.

The driver has been identified as an 80-year-old woman. She has also been transported to hospital.
