One person has died after rock band Buckcherry's tour bus was involved in a fatal multi-vehicle collision while travelling on their US tour. None of the band's members — singer Josh Todd, guitarists Stevie Dacanay and Billy Rowe, bassist Kelly LeMieux and drummer Francis Ruiz — sustained any injuries.
Band confirms accident in South Carolina
The band released a statement on social media confirming that their tour bus had been involved in an accident in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The incident occurred following Buckcherry's performance at The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina, 70 miles from the crash site.
In the statement, the band said: "We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed."
Fatality confirmed by authorities
"Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality," the statement continued. "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with concern and support."
The South Carolina Department of Transportation confirmed a pedestrian was struck and killed on the I-26 motorway, according to local news sources. Following the pedestrian's exit from his vehicle, he was reportedly struck by a Toyota sedan and pronounced dead at the scene.
Tour continues despite tragedy
The collision took place while the band were travelling as part of their Roar Like Thunder Tour. Despite the incident, Buckcherry's planned performance in Fort Lauderdale proceeded as scheduled. No further alterations were announced regarding the band's forthcoming tour dates.
Buckcherry first formed in Anaheim, California, in 1995 and became one of the best-known American hard rock acts of the late 1990s and 2000s. They released their self-titled debut album in 1999 and their second album Time Bomb in 2001 before they split. Frontman Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson revived the band in 2005 with a new line-up, releasing some of their biggest hits, including Crazy B*tch and Sorry.
