North East Attackers Using Hammers, Knives, and Cars Jailed

A number of defendants have recently been sentenced in North East courts for inflicting horrendous injuries on their victims using weapons. These weapons included hammers, a knife, and even a vehicle. Among the cases, two men carried out a sickening night-time attack on a petrol station worker, leaving him with brutal stab wounds. Others attacked people with hammers, with one offender causing brain injuries to a woman. While these criminals are now behind bars, many victims have been left with long-term scars.

Abubaka Wahed

Violent thug Abubaka Wahed struck his former partner over the head and choked her until she lost consciousness. The attack occurred on October 29 last year at his flat in Newcastle. The victim had a seizure, but Wahed did nothing to help and even laughed at her. When an argument broke out, he punched her, applied pressure to her throat until she passed out, and slammed her head repeatedly into a wall. As she tried to leave, he hit her head with a hammer, causing bleeding and swelling. He was jailed for five-and-a-half years and given a ten-year restraining order.

Ross Clancy

Ross Clancy, a savage hammer attacker, left a woman with catastrophic life-changing injuries in an attempt to murder her for money in her own home. Clancy repeatedly struck 65-year-old Niamh Michelle Cunningham in the head and face with a claw hammer, causing brain damage. The attack occurred during a three-day violent crime spree in November, which also included robberies and beating a female friend with an iron. Clancy was jailed for life with a minimum of 28 years.

Douglas Rogers

A Good Samaritan had her skull smashed with a hammer by domestic abuse thug Douglas Rogers as she called police for his battered girlfriend. Rogers had left his then-partner injured and terrified, and her screams drew the attention of a concerned woman. When the woman called police, Rogers punched her in the face and struck her four times to the head with the hammer. He was caged for nine years.

Daniel Davis and John Wilson

A petrol station worker was stabbed five times in a brutal robbery triggered by a dispute over a meal deal. Daniel Davis, 26, and John Wilson, 38, assaulted the lone employee in the early hours, leaving him with horrifying stab wounds. One wound punctured his liver, two were on his right arm, and one struck his sternum. A significant wound to his left arm required plastic surgery. Davis received an eight-year and three-month prison term with a three-year extended licence, while Wilson was handed a nine-year sentence with a three-year extended licence.

Riley Robinson

Teenager Riley Robinson left a man with a horrific injury by deliberately driving at him and pinning him against a wall. Robinson, then 17, and others went to the victim's home because they 'had an issue' with him. The victim was taken to hospital with a large wound to his left leg but avoided broken bones. He did not cooperate with the prosecution. Robinson was sent to a young offender's institution for 30 months.
