Farage's Allegations
Speaking at a memorial held at the Moorland Hotel in Newton Abbot on Saturday afternoon, Farage stated: "One theory doing the rounds is that it was a burglary gone wrong. But a car went onto the drive at approximately 12.25-12.30 on Wednesday." He added that Widdecombe had completed one interview that morning and was scheduled for another at 1pm, questioning whether a burglar would drive directly onto the property. "From what I can see of it, from what I make out, this was premeditated murder," Farage asserted.
Police Investigation
Murder detectives have previously stated that they believe Widdecombe was killed approximately 24 hours before her body was discovered. Reports indicate that investigators are working on the theory that the attack was a burglary gone wrong, occurring around lunchtime on Wednesday. Farage, however, urged caution against speculation, saying: "Whether it was politically motivated, whether it was someone with a grudge. I don't think it pays at this time to speculate."
