The Vineyard, a much-loved family-run bar in Newcastle, has spoken out on social media after suffering damage from vandals 'week after week'. The bar, which has been a favourite among Geordie drinkers for over 30 years, shared photos of damaged frames on its Facebook page ahead of a busy weekend.
Damage to new photos
Staff at the bar, located on the corner of Grey Street, posted that some of their newly framed photos had been ripped from the walls. The post read: 'Sadly, some of our new framed photos have been ripped from our walls. Whilst it might just seem like a photo It’s upsetting to see the time, effort and money we’ve put into improving the venue treated this way.'
The post also highlighted the bar's history, noting that every photo and unique decor was placed there by their father Moet Bondi, who brought 'Wine, Culture & Individuality' to Newcastle in 1993.
Impact on the business
The Vineyard expressed frustration that the damage makes them question whether they can continue adding new features. They wrote: 'What hurts the most is that it makes us question whether we can continue adding new features and thoughtful touches if there’s a risk they’ll simply be damaged or stolen.'
The bar signed off by thanking customers for their support, adding that 'small acts of vandalism have a real impact on the places we all love.'
