Gabriella, a woman in her 30s, has described how her neighbour repeatedly drove over her front garden grass, turning it into a mud bath, before breaking a flower box she installed to protect the damaged patch.
Speaking on TikTok, Gabriella said her neighbour regularly drives across her front lawn. She described the road as "really tight", but noted that most residents manage to manoeuvre their cars without cutting across anyone else's grass. She claimed her neighbour chooses to drive over the garden anyway, leaving her family searching for a way to protect it.
Neighbour's repeated damage
Gabriella said: "I don't know if we're in the wrong for this, but my neighbour keeps driving over the front of my grass." She described the damaged patch as looking like a "mud bath".
She added: "It's really tight, but I don't manage to drive over my neighbour's garden, because, one, I think it's f*****g rude, and two, I can get out of this space without driving over their f*****g garden."
Flower box attempt fails
Fed up with the behaviour, Gabriella revealed that her family decided to construct a tall flower box to place on the patch of grass that kept getting driven over. She said: "So, we were sick of it, so we built our own flower box. This flower box is really high. We made sure it was high so that they could see it. So if they were driving out of it, they would see it."
She continued: "Anyway, said neighbour has continued to drive over the flower box, break the flower box, and then just drive off like nothing happened. She comes back a couple of hours later saying, 'Oh, sorry, I had to take the kids to school.' But you've just f*****g broke our flower box."
Later, the neighbour's husband came over and apologised for his wife, suggesting that Gabriella move the flower box from the front garden to the back garden because "the spacing is tight". This was not the first attempt to tackle the problem, as Gabriella and her partner had previously placed bamboo sticks around the corner of the grass adjoining their neighbour's driveway in a bid to protect it.
Online suggestions
After Gabriella took to TikTok to vent, hundreds of followers flooded the comments section with suggestions on how to prevent the lawn from being wrecked. One user posted a picture of large rocks, commenting: "Best investment you'll ever make. Your local builders merchant or garden centre can deliver, or if you feel strong, go to BandQ."
A second commented: "We had a postie used to love driving over the lawn at high speed. We put in a fence over the space of about two weeks and he would drive over the holes for the fence posts, he drove over the bamboo markers with high vis on them, we concreted in the fence posts (5ft) one Sunday because that's when we had time and heard a huge crunch and lots of swearing on Monday morning."
Another chimed in: "Get a concrete flower box and plant your flowers girl, you got this."
