Police discovered the body of a missing mother inside her ex-boyfriend's residence in Fresno, California, after she disappeared following a visit to see their two children.
Alison Riley, legally known as Tatiana McIntyre, was found dead with several lacerations, authorities said. Her ex-partner, Michaels, allegedly fled Fresno after the killing but later turned himself in Thursday evening. He is now held in Fresno County Jail on a murder charge, with bail set at $1 million.
Disappearance and Discovery
The 29-year-old failed to pick up her daughter from school, prompting alarm. On Wednesday, her rental car was found abandoned in an orchard near McKinley and Academy, with personal items inside. Family members traced the Zipcar's GPS signal to the location.
Authorities seized the vehicle and obtained a search warrant for her ex-boyfriend's home on Grove Avenue. A significant police presence descended on the property as family waited outside, with homicide detectives at the scene.
Investigation and Motive
Police Chief Mindy Casto said investigators have not yet identified a motive. Reports indicate Riley had confided in her mother about alleged domestic violence, including choking and being prevented from leaving the property. These allegations had reportedly been reported to authorities previously.
Earlier in the week, her mother Liberty Lopez issued an urgent online appeal, stating: "My daughter is missing in Fresno California. Her phone was last at her ex's house, her rental car was abandoned on McKinley and Academy in an Orchard in the middle of nowhere. She didn't show up to pick up my granddaughter from school."
Lopez added: "I last spoke to her at 12:06pm her last location on her phone was at 1:30pm then the phone was shut off. No one has heard anything in over 12 hours. Please share, let's find my baby girl."
