Two men have been arrested after two women were allegedly sexually assaulted in separate incidents on Bournemouth Beach on Tuesday afternoon. The suspects, aged 37 and 24, both from London, were taken into custody by Dorset Police and subsequently released on bail with conditions prohibiting them from entering Dorset.
Details of the Incidents
The first report was received shortly after 3pm on Tuesday, when a woman in her 20s reported being inappropriately touched over her clothing by a man while in the water at the beach. Police officers on patrol attended the scene and arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault. He has since been released on police bail, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A second report was received at 4.18pm on the same day, involving a woman in her late teens who alleged she was inappropriately touched over her clothing by a man on the same beach. Officers responded and arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault. He has also been released on police bail with a condition not to enter Dorset, and investigations continue.
Police Statement
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: 'We are investigating two separate reports of sexual assault on Bournemouth Beach. The incidents are not currently being treated as linked. Both suspects have been released on bail while our enquiries continue.' The force has increased patrols in the area and urged anyone with information to come forward.
The arrests come during a period of hot weather, which saw large crowds gather on Bournemouth Beach. Police have reminded the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.
