Man Shot with Nail Gun in Tamworth Robbery

Police in New South Wales are investigating a violent robbery in which a man was shot multiple times with a nail gun, sustaining life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred late Saturday night, 20 June 2026, at a residence on Goonoo Goonoo Road in Tamworth.

Victim Suffers Severe Injuries

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 11:00 p.m. after reports of an assault. Officers from the Oxley Police District arrived to find a man in his 40s with nail gun wounds to his face, chest, and hand. Paramedics from NSW Ambulance rushed the victim to Tamworth Hospital, where he was treated for a fractured skull, lacerations to his head, and puncture wounds. The man has not been publicly identified.

According to police, a group of individuals stole cash from the victim during the attack. The exact number of assailants remains unknown.

Police Execute Search Warrant

Following extensive inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant on Monday 22 June 2026 at a unit on Anne Street in South Tamworth. During the search, they seized nail strips for a nail gun and electronic devices, which are now being examined as part of the investigation.

Oxley Police District detectives are leading the investigation and are appealing for public assistance. In a statement, New South Wales Police urged anyone with information, CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or mobile phone video related to the incident to come forward. “Police are appealing for information after a man was shot multiple times with a nail gun at a property in the state’s northeast on the weekend,” the statement read. “Emergency services were called to a home on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth, shortly before 11pm Saturday 20 June 2026, with reports of an assault.”
