A man was left with serious injuries after a vicious attack while crossing a road following a 'serious altercation with a driver' in Tameside.
Police and paramedics were called to Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne on Saturday evening (June 13) around 5:15 PM. The victim, in his 50s, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) believe the victim was crossing the road near Keane Street, close to the IKEA store, when he became involved in an altercation with the driver of a vehicle.
Following overnight inquiries, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody for questioning, according to GMP.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage captured between 5:00 PM and 5:15 PM to come forward. The suspect's vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored estate car.
