A man was pulled from the River Tyne after a rescue operation was launched on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency services responded to reports of a man in the water near the Millennium Bridge on Newcastle's Quayside.
Rescue operation details
Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the incident at around 1pm on July 21. The man was brought to safety by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service's fire boat and taken to hospital by ambulance.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Just before 1pm today (Tuesday), we received a report of a concern for the welfare of a man who was in the River Tyne. It was reported that the man has entered the water from the Newcastle Quayside area. Emergency services attended, and the man was quickly brought to safety, and has since been taken to hospital."

A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman added: "We can confirm that earlier this afternoon four fire appliances and two specialist rescue vehicles, including the TWFRS fire boat, attended an incident in Newcastle. The emergency call was received by our Fire Control team at 12.57pm and crews from Byker and Gateshead Community Fire Stations were dispatched to Newcastle Quayside. The incident involved the fire boat rescuing an adult male who had entered the River Tyne. Colleagues from Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service were also in attendance. Our crews left the scene at 1.23pm."
A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to an incident at the Quayside in Newcastle on Tuesday July 21 at 1pm. We dispatched one ambulance crew, one specialist paramedic, one clinical team leader and two HART crews (Hazardous Area Response Team). One patient was taken to Royal Victoria Infirmary hospital."
