Gerard Trojanowski, 44, a resident of the Merthyr Tydfil area, tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle incident on the A40 in Carmarthen, South Wales, on Tuesday evening. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 9.50pm following reports of concerns for a pedestrian's safety.
Incident Details
Several vehicles, including a marked police car on patrol, collided with the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for nearly 24 hours as investigations were carried out.
Family Tribute
His family released a statement saying: "Gerard was a loving husband and father. A wonderful and generous person with a good heart. He will always be in our memories. As a family we ask for privacy during this difficult time."
Police Referral and Appeal
Dyfed-Powys Police made a compulsory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC), as required by law in such circumstances. Police have issued an appeal for any witnesses to contact them by dialling 101.
